Unison Displaying the Flash Course at 100% Height and Width

Displaying the Flash Course at 100% Height and Width

Occasionally you may want to force the course to display the full width and height of the browser window. This can be done, it simply requires changing a couple of files once you have deployed the course: ie_activecontent_fix.js and player.html. In addition you may need to change the start.htm file if you want the browser window to open at a specific size. In this article we discuss changing the ie_activecontent_fix.js and player.html files.

Changing the ie_activecontent_fix.js File

First open the ie_activecontent_fix.js file with any text editor. Dreamweaver is a great solution for this if you have it. Once you have the file open you need to change the width and height parameters. Right now they are set to a pixel dimension. Enter width="100%" and height="100%". You will need to make this change in two places.

Once you have made the change, save the file.

Changing the player.html File

Now open the player.html file in an HTML editor like Dreamweaver or you can use a text editor if you so desire.

The first change that you need to make is to the CSS that is at the top of this file. Search for this:

<style type="text/css">
<!--
body {
    margin-left: 0px;
    margin-top: 0px;
}
-->
</style>

And replace it with this:

<style type="text/css">
<!--
html {
        height: 100%;
        overflow: hidden;
    }

    #flashcontent {
        height: 100%;
    }
    /* end hide */

    body {
        height: 100%;
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0;
        background-color: #f60;
    }
-->
</style>

Now that is done you need to make one more change. This requires placing the Flash content inside a div tag. So search for this at the bottom of the HTML file:

<script type="text/javascript" encoding="UTF-8">writeFlashContent();</script>

And replace it with this:

<div id="flashcontent">
<script type="text/javascript" encoding="UTF-8">writeFlashContent();</script>
</div>

Save the file. Now when the player.html file is opened it will use the full height or width of the browser window. The way the CSS is entered will make sure that the course still displays proportionally. You can change this if you want, but it may make some content look funny.
